London 2012

The project Primož Kozmus – Olympic games London 2012 was developed as a challenge that Primož and his team made after his decision to continue his sports career.

The project includes a few new approaches. Primož's team, composed of experts from different fields, has proved out to bring best results already in the past. The project concentrates to the achievement of sustainable development of all psycho-physical competences, which guarantee his top condition for the successful performance at the Olympic Games in London and the achievement of an interim goal – performance at the World Championships in Athletics 2011,South Korea.

Primož entered age when the majority of best hammer throwers achieved their best results: Yurij Sedikh (86,74 m) at 31, Ivan Tikhon (86, 73 m) at 29, Sergej Litvinov (86, 04 m) at 28, Tibor Gecsek (83, 68 m) at 34.

The purpose of the project is to create conditions for further development of the competing potential of Primož Kozmus. Combining it with regular work and satisfactory conditions should result in:

• Return to the group of best hammer throwers in 2011
• Qualifying for the Hammer Throw finals at the World Championships in 2011 in South Korea
• Medal at the Olympic Games 2012 in London
• Attendance at international meetings

The following activities will be held in order to achieve the above set goals:

• Preparations for the season 2011 are the interim goal in order to achieve the main goal of the project – the attendance at the Olympic Games 2012. The planned activities in 2011 involve the performance for the athletic national team of Slovenia, meeting the norm for qualifying for the World Championships in South Korea, performance at athletic meetings at home and abroad.
• Trainings will be held partly in Brežice, Slovenia, as well as in Medulin, Split and other international centres.
• The plans for preparations involve also training in South Africa, Portugal and Russia, where the best athletes in the world train. Thus, Primož can get the chance to compare his condition with his competitors and exchange experience.
• In the whole time of training, tests will be held, monitored by the physiotherapist Khalid Nasif Čatež Termal Resort and the Faculty of Sports in Ljubljana.
